Destination Development Projects
The Destination Development Fund has supported numerous initiatives and experiences. These efforts include:
- Artists’ Lounge Gallery and Gift Shop: A creative space showcasing local artists and providing visitors with unique, handcrafted pieces.
- Mountain Magic Art Show & Sale: An event celebrating local artisans and their work.
- Indigenous Storytelling Series: A series that honours Indigenous culture and traditions.
- Pride Day: A celebration of diversity and inclusion, promoting community unity and creating a welcoming environment for all.
- Silver Star Property Owners Association: Supported the development of a GIS mapping and data project.
- Music and Entertainment Enhancements: Boosting the vibrancy of large mountain events such as Sovereign2SilverStar, Seismic Spring Festival, and Crankworx Summer Series.
- Bear Stewardship Society: Supporting initiatives like the Bear Byway Trail, which blends interactive elements and educational opportunities into an engaging outdoor experience.
- Partnership with the Arts Council of North Okanagan: Collaborating on creative endeavors such as the Art Showdown and Plein Air event.

Through grant funding, the association is partnering with destination development experts to work on the plan, spark conversation, and help us get there. This expertise will support our community with helping develop a clearer roadmap, working with us to uncover smart insights and actions to help local businesses. Strong destination plans also allow organizations to set strong goals and from these, measures that signal continuous improvement. With these metrics, the association will be able to select more effectively and efficiently the ‘right’ actions and set targets that support stakeholders while simultaneously driving results.
